There has been a bit of blog silence over here recently, so I wanted to update with what I’ve been up to. One of my life goals (not a fan of yearly resolutions) is always to create more photographs for me. I’ve started a lil’ photo blog over here, go check it out! Because of the craziness (good craziness) that will be this year, I want to make sure I remember all of it.

Winter means lots of meetings with new clients and colleagues, revamping some aspects of my business, and photographing a lot of really wonderful small businesses. I love doing that. Here is an image from one of my favorite food-places that I photographed recently:

I hope that everyone is having a great winter so far (even though it hasn’t snowed here yet, which I am still angry about)! The blog will be chock-full of new photography adventures with my couples later in the week.

Julie & Stephen – Soon to wed at Springbox

I was so thankful to be able to meet up with these two on my last trip to Oregon. I am shooting their wedding in March at Springbox in Portland’s Pearl District and could not be more excited! When I met them for dinner at Sushi Ichiban (which was amazing by the way), I felt like we were friends in another life. They are so so wonderful. We headed over to Clyde Common for drinks after dinner where I got to try some Portland distilled gin and discovered my new favorite drink called a “bourbon renewal”! I brought along my camera, just to snap a few photos of them cozying up in the Ace Hotel lobby. Sometimes just kickin’ it in a hotel lobby for 10 minutes is perfect for photos.

Elaine & Jay – Soon to wed at the Hampshire House

Happy January everyone! I met up with Elaine & Jay just before the new year at the cruise port in Southie. It was freezing, but they were so much fun! Elaine and Jay are getting married at the Hampshire House this summer followed by a banquet at Hei La Moon. We had such a fun afternoon romping around Boston!

Anisa & Nick – Married at the Benson, Downtown Portland

And this marks my official bicoastalness! As I am sure most readers know by now, I am relocating to Portland, Oregon in 2013 and I have been transitioning my business for almost a year now. This is the first of a few weddings that I have booked in Oregon so far, and I am so excited about it! I am also so excited about this wedding! Anisa and Nick and so crazy in love, have so many loving friends and family members, and their wedding day reflected just that. Some things to note: Anisa is a business owner herself, and makes the cutest plush toys! Her gorgeous earrings are peacocks and she picked up in India on a family trip. Nick’s brother sang them a song during toasts, and he has such a beautiful voice! They had friends and family members help make the 998 paper cranes which you can see just behind the altar and Anisa & Nick pinned two more cranes during the ceremony to make 1000.

Anisa and Nick got ready for their wedding at the same location as the wedding itself, The Benson Hotel. They had their first look on the beautiful staircase which was already decorated for Christmas, and we headed up to Council Crest for some portraits. Because we had such an unusually clear day, you could see all 5 mountains that are viewable from up there: Mt Rainier, Mt Adams, Mt St. Helens, Mt Hood (my personal favorite) and Mt Jefferson. I literally jumped up and down for a solid 10 seconds when Nick informed me about going there!

That is what my mum used to say, instead of Merry Christmas. Because you never know what people celebrate, perhaps? I never got around to asking her, but that is my best guess. Christmas was her favorite holiday, so much so, that there was always a santa painting on the wall, even in June, and not because she was lazy about taking decorations down.

Hanukkah falls during Christmas this year, and so it’s been fun to join everyone else in the merriment, food making, and cookie baking this year. We celebrated the first night of Hanukkah at a friend’s house with homemade donuts, latkes, kugel, spätzle, ah – it was amazing. I hope everyone has a great time celebrating with friends and family this weekend and next. This year has been so amazing and I am *so* looking forward to what is in store for 2012. Thank you to all of my amazing clients, family and friends who have supported me this year. I wicked love you.

I took these a few weeks ago up at the Fells on chrome and cross processed them. In high school we used to call it “pross crosses” to be funny. Anyway…I have also started to unroll my film a little bit and wave it around in the sun so that a few frames will come out like the last one…all light-leaky.

Jen & Matt are engaged!

Jen and Matt are getting married next June on a boat in Casco Bay followed by a reception at The Portland Company. These two love Christmas, so much so that Matt proposed to Jen on Christmas Eve! They wanted to meet up for their engagement session at Boiling Spring Tree Farm where they would choose their Christmas tree!

Heather & KC ~ Married at the Bangor Public Library

Heather and KC were married at the Bangor Public Library up in Maine last month. It was such a relaxing day, even though “Occupy Bangor” was camped out on the library’s front lawn – I thought it was kind of an interesting juxtaposition. Their reception was held just down the road at the Sweetest Thing Weddings Studio, Heather’s dad made the delicious cake (it was pound cake!), and Cleonice catered the event. Thank you so much for having me Heather and KC!

You will recognize these two from their first engagement session in Back Bay. Some of my couples can’t decide in which season they want to do their engagement session, so we do two! he he! I am always happy to accommodate that request. KB & Angela decided they would have a special day, exactly 6 months from their wedding, of apple picking, being photographed, followed by a nice dinner out, I love that!

Sarah & Jeremy – Hall of Springs Wedding

Sarah and Jeremy were married last month at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, New York. There was an interfaith Ketubah Ceremony and the wedding ceremony was performed both by a Priest and a Rabbi. I don’t quite remember the details now, but I did really enjoy the service. Minus the cello debacle (S & J know what I’m talking about!).
