Anisa & Nick – Married at the Benson, Downtown Portland

And this marks my official bicoastalness! As I am sure most readers know by now, I am relocating to Portland, Oregon in 2013 and I have been transitioning my business for almost a year now. This is the first of a few weddings that I have booked in Oregon so far, and I am so excited about it! I am also so excited about this wedding! Anisa and Nick and so crazy in love, have so many loving friends and family members, and their wedding day reflected just that. Some things to note: Anisa is a business owner herself, and makes the cutest plush toys! Her gorgeous earrings are peacocks and she picked up in India on a family trip. Nick’s brother sang them a song during toasts, and he has such a beautiful voice! They had friends and family members help make the 998 paper cranes which you can see just behind the altar and Anisa & Nick pinned two more cranes during the ceremony to make 1000.

Anisa and Nick got ready for their wedding at the same location as the wedding itself, The Benson Hotel. They had their first look on the beautiful staircase which was already decorated for Christmas, and we headed up to Council Crest for some portraits. Because we had such an unusually clear day, you could see all 5 mountains that are viewable from up there: Mt Rainier, Mt Adams, Mt St. Helens, Mt Hood (my personal favorite) and Mt Jefferson. I literally jumped up and down for a solid 10 seconds when Nick informed me about going there!

Heather & KC ~ Married at the Bangor Public Library

Heather and KC were married at the Bangor Public Library up in Maine last month. It was such a relaxing day, even though “Occupy Bangor” was camped out on the library’s front lawn – I thought it was kind of an interesting juxtaposition. Their reception was held just down the road at the Sweetest Thing Weddings Studio, Heather’s dad made the delicious cake (it was pound cake!), and Cleonice catered the event. Sarah & Jeremy – Hall of Springs Wedding

Sarah and Jeremy were married last month at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, New York. There was an interfaith Ketubah Ceremony and the wedding ceremony was performed both by a Priest and a Rabbi. I don’t quite remember the details now, but I did really enjoy the service. Minus the cello debacle (S & J know what I’m talking about!).

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! We road trip to Indianapolis every year to visit family, and I think I had 10 different kinds of pie over the 3 days we were there, yum!

I’ve been shooting a ton of film lately, because it’s awesome. My clients love it, I love it, we’re all happy about it. The wedding I posted recently of Alaina and Tom was one that I shot a ton of film at, and I just got the scans back last night – a lot later than expected! I haven’t even gone through them but I wanted to share a couple.

Alaina & Tom, married at Ragged Mountain

Alaina and Tom…two very good friends of ours. What an honor it is to be chosen by friends to photograph their big day. I met Tom at a party through our friend Jason. We had a mutual love for craft beer and because he went to college in Colorado, we immediately bonded over our love for Dales Pale Ale. When Alaina came into his life, I knew he had met his match. They both love the outdoors, music, and travel adventures. Alaina & Tom moved to DC just before our wedding *sniff* but that’s ok, we’ll see them this winter when I fully expect them to take us on a DC beer tour.

Alaina and Tom’s wedding was held at Ragged Mountain, a ski lodge in New Hampshire. I do love ski lodge weddings (not just because our wedding was at a ski lodge!) with their gigantic mountain-facing windows and beautiful scenery. It was a perfect fall day, the foliage was at peak, the air was crisp, just a teeny bit of rain, and lots and lots of love. I love you guys.

And yes, I promised pretty much everyone at the wedding that I would make at least one animated gif of Alaina doing the shot-ski.

Julie & Dave – A Rivermill at Dover Landing Wedding

Julie & Dave were married recently at Rivermill at Dover Landing in Dover, New Hampshire. There was such an insanely talented and fun group of people working at this wedding, that I hope I get to be in this group of pro’s again. Britt at Rivermill is always a hoot to work with, Kate Parker created all the lovely tablescapes and decor inside of Rivermill, Joanne of Joya Beauty is an amazing makeup artist, and DJ Ryan Parker is always hilarious and totally kills the dance floor. Parrott’s Photobooth Company supplied the photobooth (and also the dance floor with props, sorry about that!). Flavor Concepts catered the event and there was a beer pairing with each meal brewed by Throwback Brewery. Whew, ok guys, can we all work together again soon? Thanks.

Onto Julie and Dave! We became insta-friends with our mutual love for craft beers, whiskey, and travel. I love these two! They had perfect weather for their October New Hampshire wedding, the leaves were at peak and the air was crisp. They are off on their honeymoon soon to South Africa! Awesome choice, guys. See you when you get back! xoxo

Leslie & Scott – Married at the Boston Harbor Hotel

Leslie and Scott were married at the Boston Harbor Hotel earlier this month. I don’t know what has been going on with this weather, but it was of course supposed to pour all day, and early in the day it totally looked like it was going to. I’ve told all my brides who are worried about the rain that it “absolutely” won’t rain on their day, and this was the 8th wedding this year that it indeed held off for them! I know I will regret saying this one day, ha! What can you do? Nothing.

The Chickenslacks were the band that Leslie & Scott hired for their wedding, and if you’ve never been to the Cantab on Thursday nights to boogie to their music, you definitely should! I was so excited to work with them! I also loved the flowers (I know, flowers are normally not my thing!) by Lotus Designs in Boston. Leslie’s step-mother made cake-pops as escort cards, and I got to eat a couple extra, yum!

Rachael & Peter, wed at Endicott Park & party at Salem Town Hall

High School sweethearts. Rachael showed me the yearbook from when Peter’s parents went to the same high school and met. You know these two from their P-town engagement session earlier this summer. I love how crazy Rachael is, always laughing and acting silly and Peter watches her with a look on his face that to me says “she’s awesome.”. They both are.

As I was arriving for the day, I drove by Peter’s house and thought to myself “I *hope* this is the house Rachael is getting ready at!” but realized it was not, and arrived to a house down the road. Turns out I had mixed up the addresses when I double-checked before I went in (I *always* double-check!) – So I excitedly went back to the 300 year old barn/maze of a house. There are turtles and big-horned sheep heads. Yeah.

Their wedding was held at Endicott Park, and their reception at Salem Old Town Hall. Rachael & Peter, congratulations on your marriage!

A huge thank you to my second shooter (you’ll see some of his photos in the reception cluster!), Forrest, for kicking ass for me that day!
