Julie & Stephen – Soon to wed at Springbox

I was so thankful to be able to meet up with these two on my last trip to Oregon. I am shooting their wedding in March at Springbox in Portland’s Pearl District and could not be more excited! When I met them for dinner at Sushi Ichiban (which was amazing by the way), I felt like we were friends in another life. They are so so wonderful. We headed over to Clyde Common for drinks after dinner where I got to try some Portland distilled gin and discovered my new favorite drink called a “bourbon renewal”! I brought along my camera, just to snap a few photos of them cozying up in the Ace Hotel lobby. Sometimes just kickin’ it in a hotel lobby for 10 minutes is perfect for photos.

Elaine & Jay – Soon to wed at the Hampshire House

Happy January everyone! I met up with Elaine & Jay just before the new year at the cruise port in Southie. It was freezing, but they were so much fun! Elaine and Jay are getting married at the Hampshire House this summer followed by a banquet at Hei La Moon. We had such a fun afternoon romping around Boston!

Jen & Matt are engaged!

Jen and Matt are getting married next June on a boat in Casco Bay followed by a reception at The Portland Company. These two love Christmas, so much so that Matt proposed to Jen on Christmas Eve! They wanted to meet up for their engagement session at Boiling Spring Tree Farm where they would choose their Christmas tree!

You will recognize these two from their first engagement session in Back Bay. Some of my couples can’t decide in which season they want to do their engagement session, so we do two! he he! I am always happy to accommodate that request. KB & Angela decided they would have a special day, exactly 6 months from their wedding, of apple picking, being photographed, followed by a nice dinner out, I love that!

Chrissy and Dave are getting married next year at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum. We met up at their house in southie for their engagement session a couple weeks ago. These two love to entertain guests, so we started out in their kitchen creating spiked apple cider and enjoyed a mug in their back yard (yes they live in Boston and have a back yard, I know, unbelievable!) on a beautiful crisp October afternoon. We headed down to the beach in Southie (I think it’s called Carson Beach) where you can get gorgeous Boston skyline views, and finished up in the Public Garden. These two laugh – a lot. I would like to think that it was because I am hilarious, but I am not sure that is true. They are such a wonderful match for each other. Dave was the most at-ease groom I have ever photographed, thank you for making my job easy, you two! I had incredible light, perfect weather, and a snuggly couple, what more can I ask for?

Heather & KC are engaged! – Fort Knox

I am on a blogging storm this week! I had a lot of couples who wanted to utilize the gorgeous weather we were having a couple of weeks ago, and had back-to-back shoots. I think I drove around 1000 miles in two days on that particular weekend! I met up with Heather and KC up in Prospect, Maine at Fort Knox. I had been there as a kid, but never as an adult – it’s *just* as fun! The fort itself has very little light, and most places you need a flashlight to find your way around. I thought about this a lot going into it, but knew there were pep-holes around the fort and was hoping to use these. It created a spotlight look, which I was totally digging. After we played around in the fort, we went over to Fort Point in Stockton Springs. My brother actually lives in Stockton Springs, so this was so convenient for me! I stayed the night and got to snuggle their pups. Fort Point has an adorable little lighthouse, and we parked ourselves there to enjoy some wine and the beautiful Maine Coast.

Heather and KC are getting married this month at the Bangor Public Library and their party after will be held at the Sweetest Thing studio in downtown Bangor. When I asked Heather and KC what their inspiration was for meeting up at Fort Knox they told me that they wanted everything about their wedding to represent “historical Maine” – love it! I cannot wait to see you two again in just a couple weeks!

A mix of film & digital here, as usual! This time I used Kodak Portra 400, my fave when shooting people. Another thing I love about film: When I opened the back of the camera to grab the finished roll, I pulled it out and it accidentally unrolled a wee bit (with 120 film, it doesn’t get “sucked in” the canister like with 35mm). You can see the product of that accident by noticing that some frames (that were towards the end of the roll) have orangey-red blown out edges. I think it’s lovely.

Maria & Barrett are engaged!

Maria & Barrett are getting married next year at the Old South Church in downtown Boston and partying after at the Seaport Hotel on the waterfront. A pretty quintessential “Boston wedding” if you ask me! We met up a couple weeks ago in upstate New York, where they live, for their engagement shoot. When we were driving to the apple orchard Maria had told me about and we arrived, I was all “where is everyone? Where do we get bags…?” and it turns out the orchard is one of Barrett’s friends, not a u-pick! Danny was sad that I didn’t bring home a giant bag of apples like I did the week before, but I was happy because that meant we had the *entire* *gigantic* orchard all to ourselves!

You probably assume this by now, but these are a mix of medium-format film (Kodak Portra 800 this time) and photographs taken with my digital equipment.

Annmarie & Brian are getting married at Moraine Farm!

Annmarie and Brian are such fun people. They are so silly with each other that I don’t think I stopped laughing during our shoot and my cheeks hurt after! We met up at Russell Orachards in Ipswitch for some apple picking and cider donut eating and then headed over to Crane Beach. Even though it was overcast and rainy the whole time (especially when we got to the beach! I kept having to take breaks to clean off my lens every minute!) that did not mean they weren’t going to have a blast. We all came out of it happy and soaking wet. They will be getting married at Moraine Farm next June!

Anisa & Nick are engaged!

Anisa and Nick met in college and are getting married in December at the Benson in Portland, Oregon! This is my first of a few of Oregon weddings I have booked for this year and next and I have to say I am so pumped! Upon meeting them in person, I instantly knew that we would get along great. Anisa is a cake decorator & toy creator (She’ll have a booth at the Bazaar Bizarre this December for those of you who like to attend!) and Nick is a med student. I heard rumblings of them perhaps moving back to Portland, where Nick is from, after school. Yay!

*We are relocating to Portland, Oregon next year and so I am transitioning my business to the west coast slowly but surely!

Rachael & Peter are engaged!

I met Rachael though my brother last winter. She sells my brother’s product and while they were talking, she mentioned that she was engaged and looking for a photographer! I love these two, I asked them what they love most about each other and in a nutshell Peter likes that Rachael is outgoing and Rachael likes that Peter is calm – a perfect balance. We met up in P-town (Provincetown, MA) for their engagement session recently. I had never been to P-town before, so sad. As I drove out there I noticed lots of sick trees on the road and was hoping there were some by their house. Of course they surrounded the entire area and I was excited! We started out walking around their street and into the Pitch Pine forest, then headed to the beach! There were about 400 seals hanging out on a sandbar that day, so you know I was freakin’ out. We finished up with dinner and a beer in town, then Peter drove us to *the sunset spot* for more P-town gorgeousness. I cannot wait to bring Danny and Emma here this fall. Thank you guys so much for the tour!
