August 18th, 2010 :: Comments are awesome, you should leave me one!  7

Hi all. Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while, I know you are always anxiously waiting my next post, ha! I have been busy, to say the least. I just wanted to give you a preview of what will be making it’s way to the blog soon since I haven’t had the time to make full blog posts for a while. As I think most of you know, I have a day job as a web developer and due to a recent project that I have been on where I had to be at the office for 12+ hours a day for a month and a half, I have had very little time to blog. It’s most important to me to get images to my clients first, blog second. Here is a preview of what I have been up to lately:

First, a lovely back yard wedding in Winterport, Maine for Audrey & Homer.

A super-silly e-shoot in the North End with Michael & Jeffery:

My very first wedding in Oregon! This one is at McMenamins Grand Lodge in Forest Grove for Chantel & Mike:

I just love everyone in the background cheering them on!

A wedding in a barn in Holliston, Ma for Linda & Steve:

I was away in Oregon for a week for the wedding and something else happened. Danny and I are engaged!
This is where he did it, not bad eh? (I took this the day after, because the day he did it the weather was overcast, you’ll see in the next photo) I have received many comments on my ring and people wanting to see photographs of it. Here is a link to jeweler Heather Wang’s page about it: My e-ring. I think it’s the coolest piece of jewelry ever made, but then again, I think that about every one of her pieces!

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I have two more weddings this weekend and those will be added to the queue! I super miss blogging my shoots but hopefully once things relax a little, I will have time once again! xoxoxo

Ben and Scott are getting hitched!

June 1st, 2010 :: Comments are awesome, you should leave me one!  6

I introduce you to Ben and Scott. They are getting married this weekend! Ben is what I call a plant scientist, and Scott is a chef at a beautiful restaurant downtown. These guys are incredible! I am still telling stories to my friends about how Ben would say [something like] “oh do you see that tree behind that one that is 4 miles away with the golden leaves? that is a [don't remember the name now] tree!” I asked him if he knew this special tree was there, or if he could just tell. He could just tell. Crazy, right? I would love to know trees the way he knows them. Ben, any books you can suggest for me? :) Scott is a chef and a master drink maker. While we were finishing up our shoot at their apartment in the South End, they were showing me their Alexander Calder lithograph on the wall that almost made it into the trash and Scott said, “I think I’ll make up a drink and we’ll call it the Calder!” Yeah, I’m kinda in love with these guys. Recipe to the Calder at the end of this post. Onto the photos!

These two collect typewriters, and they love writing with them, so it was fitting that they brought one along.

We walked around the Arboretum that is so pretty this time of year, everything in bloom and the light is just gorgeous.

We ventured up to their roof garden for a bit, which by the way won first place in Mayor Menino’s Roof Garden Contest last year!

A collection of typewriters/typewriter ads/Scott’s favorite men on the big wall of one of their rooms. I love this wall! And of course a copy of the Great Gatsby. For their wedding invitations, they sent each of their guests a copy of the book with a bookmark inside that contained all of the wedding information. Isn’t that the greatest idea?!

Admiring the Calder, and then enjoying The Calder

I think the thing I love most about photography is when I am photographing couples and they say something like “Wow, we haven’t done this in so long.” or “It felt really good to just be with my man for the day”. When Ben and Scott sat down in these chairs for a drink, they said something to that tone, and it makes me feel so good that even though I am there taking photographs, they get to do something special that they don’t do on a regular basis that they really enjoy together.

The Calder:
4 part bourbon
1 part sweet vermouth
lime juice
rhubarb bitters
twist of lemon

See you two this weekend!

Yeawon and Ming-Jen are engaged!

May 18th, 2010 :: Comments are awesome, you should leave me one!  11

I introduce you to Yeawon and Ming-Jen and their monster blog post! These two are insanely into each other, and were one of the easiest couples to shoot to date! I typically like to just follow people around, not really pose them or give much direction because I feel that is how you get people looking their most natural. Ming-Jen contacted me because they are getting married in Taiwan and Korea this summer, and they wanted their friends and family back home to see where they live and what they do for fun. We hit up all of their favorite spots around the city to really show their friends/family how they live.

We started at Harvard because that is where they went/go. (I say went/go because Ming-Jen went and he’s an architect and Yeawon is going to study law!)

After hanging out on the steps for a little warm up, we headed over to L.A. Burdicks for some yummy hot cocoa. On the way there we stopped at a couple of spots around Harvard Square:

Ah, even though it was a nice sunny spring day (rare in Boston!) we stopped for some hot chocolate.

Ming-Jen informed me that we were just steps from where the lovebirds actually met for the first time! I obviously had to go check it out and I wanted to get a few snaps of them right in that spot. The story is this: Yeawon had just came to town and it was raining, she had all of her luggage with her and was standing right outside here holding a map, ah o! Ming-Jen had just walked outside and asked her if she needed some help, awhhhnnn..adorbs.

In case you are wondering why they are hysterically laughing in the first couple shots, I happen to have a very hilarious assistant, Rob. =)

We then took the T over to the MIT Chapel.

Ming-Jen told me all about the crazy architecture of the MIT Chapel and the surrounding buildings. Did you know that there is a small moat around the chapel that continues inside so that the walls sparkle as the water moves and the sunlight hits it? Beautiful.

^*sigh*^

Then we made our way to Kendall Square through what Yeawon told me was called the “infinite corridor” it’s good to know for the winter that there is an inside route from the big MIT building on Mass Ave all the way to Kendall Sq, through 6 buildings I think she said!

I love this series.

They wanted to go over to Beacon Hill because they really admire the architecture over there, and its quite quintessentially Boston. Perfect spot for their friends and family to get a feel for their lives here.

And to close out our whirlwind tour, we went over to the Boston Public Gardens for the final portion of our shoot.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this journey with them as much as I did.

Good luck with your wedding(s), guys!

Anna, Steve and their two best friends

May 6th, 2010 :: Comments are awesome, you should leave me one!  0

Meet Anna and Steve. I am not even sure if they know this about themselves but they were the first couple to officially hire me for 2010 back in October of last year. I know most of you know that I am in my first year of business, so this first official wedding client is very special to me. It’s only fitting that their wedding is currently my last wedding of the season alll the way in November. As a *huge* dog lover, I was so excited to know they were going to be bringing their furry friends to the shoot.

This first image is my absolute favorite!

The couple met while working in the John Hancock building in Back Bay, so we started out around there. :)

I of course saw this tree and it was talking to me, so you know what that means!

I am so excited for them and their wedding this November! I am hoping the dogs get to join in the celebration.
